The beautiful oxen figurine are a necessary part of any historically accurate, authentic looking village display. During the time of Jesus, oxen were very valuable animals. They provided the strength, and endurance, farmers, during ancient times, needed for all their heavy farm work. They pulled plows, operated water wheels, and helped clear land.
