Our first new Alpine church since 2008 is truly beautiful. With the traditional Alpine onion dome tower, lots of icon details destine to make this a best seller. A gentle paint pallet compliments the stucco style with the added charm of a unique corner door.
Basel is a growing tourist town located on the Rhine River in Switzerland. Visitors stop to sample the fine Swiss cheese offered from local dairies and farms and that are centuries old. This is the second of shops in our little Swiss series, and typical of the charming merchants lining the streets of Swiss hamlets.
Like the 2010 Snow Drop Cottage, Black Forest Tower is taken from a Brothers Grimm story. For 2011, it's Rapunzel who might be found living in our newest fairy tale cottage. The sign over the door, "Schwarzwald Tower", German for Blackforest Tower. This last December, Disney released "Tangled", the latest animated version of Rapunzel.
I added this tower to my Alpine Village. Beautiful piece. Its different from the usual houses.

This acrylic blanket of artifical snow rolls out easily to complete any winter scene. The piece measure 24 inches by 60 inches and a fluffy 1 inch thick. Can easily be cut to customize your scene. Apply 'Real Plastic Snow - item 56.49981' over the top to create the most realistic effect.
I needed a new snow blanket for my Department 56 New England Village. The 2 blankets combined worked out perfectly and the clean, white snow set off the village perfectly.

Perhaps the coolest market booth yet. Taking from the popular Christmas Markets in Germany, each booth
specializes in a particular traditional item. This year we have the beautiful hand crafted beer steins. True to
beer stein form, the booth is round with hand sculpted and painted detail - the roof resembles the pewter top.
LED lit interior and lantern above the window. Set of 2 includes the vendor, a beautiful madchen (young lady)
shows one of the beer steins, to be cherished by the lucky buyer.
Battery pack included, AC/DC adapter compatible, 2 C Battery
Continuing the Alpine series of Christmas Market booths, the second in this series offers special gingerbread treats, a holiday tradition from Germany.
I purchased this for myself- a wonderful addition to my Alpine Village collection.

This charming "guesthouse" was inspired by the beautiful Bavarian hamlet, Mittenwald. Known for the elaborate paintings on many of the buildings, our new inn has a detailed image on the side depicting a scene from the nativity story, when angels appeared to the shepherds keeping watch over their flocks.
Reit - pronounced "right" - is a postcard perfect area in Bavaria, Germany, near the Austrian border. The steam powered Ludwig rail system opened in that region in 1835. Railways were used not only to transport goods and people, but other noted advantages were to strengthen defense, unify the nation, and spread knowledge and talent. Note the details of the large warehouse door used to store products.
The Rhine river flows through Germany into Switzerland . The valley of that area is well known for the fine wines produced. This is 1 of 2 shops in our little Swiss series, and typical of the charming merchants lining the streets of Swiss hamlets.
