A typical Christmas scene with a boy and a girl who might be brother and sister, in the company of a Golden Retriever dog, placing their letters to Santa Claus into a mailbox (the envelop reads: "To Santa, North Pole"). They are depicted with naturalism in an updated scene with a focus on small details: the winter garments worn by the children have a woolen-knit texture; a traditional cast-iron mailbox has an antique flavor; there is snow on the mailbox as well as on the ground, and a Christmas wreath with mistletoe and a red ribbon.
Winter Whimsy collection performed in classic glazed porcelain. These kids are actively taking part in winters sports. The characters of this collection are all connected by the red touch of some of their accessories (caps, gloves…). Besides, the warm clothes have been engraved with porcelain reliefs imitating the pleated patterns of knitting. All of them can be combined to form a scene about the winter vacations and snow fun. “I’ll get there first” is a kid skiing down a slope, depicted in a very realistic manner thanks to the inclination of the skis and the metal sticks.
A splendid piece with a high level of complexity and large size at once fantastic and realistic: the reindeer are sculpted as real animals, and seem to be running and jumping on the clouds. The Santa, with its hat flowing on the wind, controls the reins with strength from its seat. Remarkable is the amount of tiny fragments such as reindeer’ antlers or legs, skates of the sleigh, little toys on the trunk, and even the furry pompon for santa’s hat. Worth watching is the painting of the sides of the sleigh, where mistletoe motifs are depicted in a dark brown and green colours with dots of reds.
